:coffee:

Yoga, Jog (two laps), Duolingo (Esperanto).

News from The San Francisco Chronicle:

  • Front Page – Two rock climbers in their 40’s fell to their deaths in Yosemite. There’s concern that “speed climbing” and sponsored climbers are making the sport more dangerous (1,839 climbing deaths since 1905).
  • Front Page – San Francisco Supervisor London Breed leads former State Senator Mark Leno in the ranked-choice mayoral election (by 1,580 votes, 50.38% to 49.62%). The final tally is expected later today.
  • Business Report – Valve Corp. announced that it will “allow everything” on their Steam gaming platform except content it finds to be “illegal, or straight-up trolling”. The issue of censoring games on the platform came about because of games like “Active Shooter” and “Suicide Simulator”. Some of the more offensive titles have been removed from Steam.

Setup Coveralls for pypeerassets! Now the README has a cute “coverage badge”.

Cleaned the Kitchen 🙂

Added a DNS lookup, TCPClient and NewConnection to WinPrime. It populates a ListBox in the Network Tab with IP Addresses of potential Primecoin Nodes. Now I have to figure out how to “talk” to them.

Jogged two laps, yoga, DuoLingo.

News from The Washington Post:

  • Venezuela continues to lose citizens as the hyperinflation there wipes out incentive to stay in the country. Ten to twenty percent of staff at schools, hospitals and public transit have left.
  • There’s debate on whether President Trump has the ability to pardon himself. Giuliani and others claim Trump will not do such a thing and that an impeachment would likely follow if he did.
  • China is becoming an increasingly attractive country to conduct scientific research in. They’re investing heavily in recruiting talent from abroad, luring back expats and producing more doctoral degrees internally. The US should continue to collaborate with their growing scientific community.

Worked on setting up “seeder nodes” for Primecoin (https://github.com/belovachap/primecoin-seeder). Waiting on a couple of full nodes to sync up before starting the DNS servers.

Still working on protocol message structures in C#. Would like to get to an initial application that shows the communications between Primecoin nodes 🙂 Ultimately I’d like to build a mining module and a simple wallet for a stand-alone distributed Primecoin app on Windows 😀

TGIF!

…drinks coffee…

Music from YouTube:

Yoga and jogged two laps. Scrolled through Twitter, scrolled through Facebook.

News from The New York Times:

  • US imposes steel and aluminum tariffs on Canada, Mexico and the EU. Canada, Mexico and the EU begin to place tariffs on American exports.
  • The EPA has a proposal to remove stricter car emissions standards under review by the White House Office of Management and Budget. California will likely attempt to maintain the stricter standards as they have the right to set their own from the 1970 Clean Air Act.
  • Political uncertainty in Spain as the Parliament garners enough votes to oust current Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy. Mr. Rajoy’s party was recently convicted of corruption.
  • A bill to revamp the decades-old Higher Education Act is having trouble finding a path to law. Education Secretary Betsy DeVos introduces her own changes to Higher Education in the interim.
  • President Trump pardoned Dinesh D’Souza on Thursday for illegally donating $20,000.00 to a political candidate in 2014. Mr. D’Souza holds very conservative views and is a major detractor of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

Esperanto drills on DuoLingo.

Spent the afternoon and evening digging into how the Primecoin reference client establishes network connections and communicates over them. Small amount of progress made in porting it to C#.
